In 2017, Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi as well as Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it became the most-streamed song in just six months. In 2017, the single Despacito which was a mix of reggaeton with pop music was not only a way to bring new attention to reggaeton music but also increased interest in Latin music. The Billboard Top 100 included four mostly Spanish tracks in 2016 as opposed to two in 2015. In the height of Despacito's chart-topping success in 2017, 19 songs mainly made in Spanish were in the top 100. This number rose to 41 in 2020. Justin Bieber's bilingual version of Despacito came out in the year 2017. After that, some of the most famous artists began collaborating with reggaeton singers. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny to create MIA (2018), and Madonna was a part of Maluma in the creation of Medellin. In the year 2020, a handful of reggaeton stars were complaining about their genre's shift towards the mainstream, but a new generation, led by Rauw Alejandro was determined to keep reggaeton evolving. The genre often included elements of electronic dance music as well as other styles.
