Whitney Elizabeth Houston is a performer who was born in Newark, New Jersey on 9th August 1963. The parents of her are gospel superstars Cissy Houston(n e Emily Lee Drinkard) and John Russell Houston Jr. Whitney's cousin Dionne warwick also sings. In her early years, she sang in her New Hope Baptist Church choir in Newark. When she turned fifteen, Houston was singing professionally backing vocals with her mother in Chaka Khan's 1978 song Im Every Woman. In the year 1981, she did a stint as a fashion model, and was featured on the Seventeen cover. She also performed backing vocals to Lou Rawls and Jermaine. Her work as the vocalist featured in New York funk group Material attracted the attention of several big record companies, like Arista who she was signed in 1982, and continued to work for the remainder of her career. The first Whitney Houston album was released in the year 1985. It became one of the top-selling album by a musician. Tracks like the title track, The Most Beautiful Love of All, How Will I Know If You Give Good Love, and Saving all My Love were all released off the album. They enabled Houston to earn seven US top tens which were higher than even the top tens of The Beatles. The album sold three million copies in its initial album's first year of release in the US and then went on to achieve a worldwide sales of 25 million, earning them the first six Grammies. The Whitney album released in 1987 which featured the songs I Wanna Dance With Somebody and Where Do Broken Hearts Get to, continued her success. However, it came with The Bodyguard of 1992 that turned her into one of the biggest-selling artists in history. The film itself as well as the performances in it were not highly praised the soundtrack album and her rendition to the Dolly Parton song I Will Always Love You was the top of the singles and albums charts for a period of time and sold over 44 million copies across the globe. The same year that she had her daughter Bobbi Brown, she got married to Bobby Brown of the ex-New Edition group. At this point that her widely documented substance abuse began. By 1996 she was a daily drug user.
Dana Bash or Dana Ruth Schwartz in the way she's popularly known as an American anchorwoman reporter as well as CNN's political correspondent.
