Whitney Elizabeth Houston is a performer who was born in Newark New Jersey on the 9th of August, 1963. Their parents include gospel superstars Cissy Houston(n e Emily Lee Drinkard) as well as John Russell Houston Jr. Whitney's cousin Dionne Warwick sings as well. In Newark Whitney, she began singing with the church choir in the early years of her childhood. At the age 15 she accompanied her mother the background vocals for Chaka's hit Im Every Woman from 1978. Later, she provided backing vocals to Jermaine Jackson and Lou Rawls as well as her mom. Her singing with New York-based band Material attracted major record labels which included Arista. She signed with Arista in 1983, where she was a part of the company for the remainder of her career. The album she released as her debut Whitney Houston was released in 1985, and was the most-seller album of a debut artist. A number of hit singles, such as the hit songs Saving All My Love For You How Will I Know You Give Good Love as well as The Most Beautiful Love of All were released from the album, setting her up for a Beatles-beating seven consecutive US numbers one. The album debuted in 1987 and has sold more than 25 million copies around the world. The Whitney 1987 release, featuring the songs Where Do Broken Hearts and I Wanna Dance With Somebody as popular songs, was a way to build on the successes she'd had. But the 1992 film The Bodyguard sealed her spot among the top-selling musicians ever. The Bodyguard's performance as a film and its soundtrack were not appreciated but the Dolly Parton cover I Will Always Love You as well as the album accompanying it were top of the charts around the globe for several months. That same year she got married to Bobby Brown who was a ex- New Edition singer. She had their only daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown together on March 23, 1993. Around this time, her well-documented substance abuse began and by 1996, Bobbi Kristina Brown used to use drugs every day.
